SONY EXTERNAL BURNER

    I am looking at buying a external dual layerd dvd burner for 279.00 is this a good burner or are there better ones i use dvd+rs alos I want to find out what sort of burner is in my laptop so i can upgrade with firmware for region free can anyone help with the website also thanks heaps :)

    Sony's are a decent enough make. I don't care for them myself but others here are happy with them.

    Nero Info Tool can tell you the make/model drive in your laptop and you cam go here for your firmware:

    Thanks had a look at the site still no good I have found out that my dvd drive is a GCA4040N any firmware for that that you know of please?????? thanks.

    I just had a look around and it appears that LG isn't too keen on releasing updated firmwares for the 4040N.
