Sony Offers "Replacement"

    Looking for guidance folks. Twice, my Sony AVD50ES AV receiver has died. This time Sony says cannot fix and has offered what I think is a "noise in a box" replacement----the DAV HDX576WF Bravia kit.The ES Specs. and sound were very good and still under Warranty. I think they should replace with an equivalent ES spec. AV receiver,--not my fault they cannot fix.

    Appreciate some knowledgable input folks. Thanks.

    Your ES unit might be discontinued, that is perhaps why the alternate replacement.

    Yes, I'm sure it is, my concern though is the offerred replacement doesn't appear to have the sound quality of the es range.

    Mfg warrenties usually state if the item cannot be repaired then EITHER an identical replacement is given (maybe refurbished to factory spects) or a replacement the equals or exceeds the item replaced ( it is usually up to the mfg to decide this) . This is a long way saying you may be out of luck.

    Next time, skip $ony, buy Bryston, much better people and products
