This rumour has been circulating for a couple of weeks now,i wasnt sure when i first seen it,there are immediate thoughts of a clone etc as the images came from a Chinese factory and those guys are great for making clones,but with legal maction being threatened towards Kataku and Engadget,i started thinking it must be real,then there was a confirmation. From what I gathered via an insider it was real months ago. But even without that, using some common sense you could put together the validity of this by 2 things alone ~ 1 being the pink anti static protective coverings that have been seen in other PS3 manufacturing plants & 2 the most important confirmation was Sony sending cease & desist letters to all the sites that posted the pics (just as Marcusita said). Dang, breaks my heart to read the stuff in that link. Lol =) I was really thinking that all this stuff was true after reading all the news and the confirmations and stuff.. Think this would have been a handy little gaming machine. My PS3 is just too big to fit in some of my bags and a slimmer model would definitely be helpful..
If this turns out to be fake,it wont really matter,as some stage in the PS3's life,Sony will release a slim version,its just a matter of when. Also E3 is soon,if this is real,then it will probably be officially confirmed then.
I wouldn't put to much weight into what that unknown French site said. I personally believe they are real pics but of an old beta design etc. going by the info from an insider who has been right about stuff before (he just released the Trico vids & pics last week that NO ONE else had)
They probably have made several beta or concept box's,this may be what the final looks like and it may not.

i would like to see this next to a full sized ps3. seems to be pretty smaller, i just cant tell how much smaller.
