Hello everybody, I do not know if this the right place to ask, but I try it anyway. For almost a year ago, I bought a Sony DVD-Recorder RDR HX919 with 250 GB HDD. It is very nice recorder with many features. It has been working nicely and I was almost satisfied with this recorder until last week. When I started the recorder it showed "Starting ..." and nothing else happed. Even I leave it for a day or two. But sometimes after turning it off for an hour it became to itself and start to work for 10 minutes. Then again going to "Starting...". Unfortunately, there is no warranty anymore and I have seen threats on the net people waiting for months to get their recorder repaired. Then I decided to repair it by myself. I plugged the hard disk out and put it in a computer. Running some software, it shows that when hard disk become warm it gets problems with reading some sectors, but there is no known file system on the hard disk. I managed to copy all sectors of the old hard disk into a new one and plug it in the recorder. It was very exciting moment and then Bingo... Everything works as before. But (yes a little but) if I turn the recorder off, sometimes it doesn't come back ('Starting...' again). I have to let it be off for an hour. then everything works again. Hmmmm... This problem is much less that the original one, but annoying. I wonder, if somebody knows what kind of disk format Sony use for their DVD-recorder, or is there any software that can extract videos/reformat hard disk? Thanks in advance
