sony rdrgx315 PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

I have a Sony RDRGX 315 and I cannot get ot to record from any of the digital cable movie channels. I have called the cable co and they say it is not them that won't allow it but a part of the dvd recorder itself. I went to very place i could and I have been told that all dvd players have this but there is a way to override it. They say they used to sell something called Go media but none has it anymore. Can anyone help me figure this out and make it work.......PLEASE. Yes I am a newbie but cut me a break okay, I read the all the " you need to read this first" stuff and I could not find an answer for this one.
