I am trying to downgrade my vaio to xp, it currently has vista premium. The problem is after i boot from my xp disk and hit enter to install it i get a message that says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer". I tried to find how to get past this and they say i need to change my HD drive in the bios to IDE. when i get into the bios(F2 Button) i dont have this option. How do i change this on my vaio? Or another method if you know one. Thanks, Jared

You need to find the SATA controller drivers for that laptop.
    Try this:

You could also try to install XP on another computer on the drive until it gets to the part where it says "39 Minutes remaining" and shutdown the computer, pop the HD back into the VAIO and it should continue the install. I have never tried this though just theoretically it should work.
