I have been reading for days. I cannot find the answer to my problem. I have ripped to hdd, shrunk with shrink 3.2 and am preparing for bun with imgburn. I have followed the guide to the exact. I have a Sony DVD-R and my error message reads when trying to burn
    (FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access
Hint: You've got another program running close it and try again.

I am sorry I am a complete newbie. I cannot figure out which program is still running on my dvd burner? Any ideas????

    Thank YOu

Could be Sony MID or TY...what would be the best to look at would be a log from Imgburn.

thank you for all your help. I really do appreciate it. My sony discs are AccuCore, I am assuming that it is a cheaper brand because I did buy them at Wal-Mart. I am backing up 10000 BC which plays beautifully all the way to the the last three scenes. I really dont understand what imgburn log says besides: success!!! process completed. LOL

If you would post the log we could tell you what it says. The Sony brand work for some, but others have problems with them. I only suggest Verbatim which can be bought locally and are usually on sale, and Taiyo Yuden which are easily found online.

That log only shows that you opened and closed ImgBurn. Look for the part in your log that has the name of the ISO or files that you burned and post all that information.

I checked my DMA, and everything was set the way it was supposed too. Thank You. I set my burn speed to 8x and I have successfully backed up 2 of my movies. Thank you soo much. I appreciate all of your help.

The rule of thumb when burning is 1/2 max speed that is listed, or no higher than 8x. The higher the speed, the more chance for errors there are.

Any time you have a question, don't hesitate to ask.

ok I have backed up quite a few of my movies. I am having issues with Fools Gold. The audio is choppy. I believe I am doing everything the same. This particular one took longer to burn, almost 2 hours in comparison to 20-30 mins for all the others.

The other qestion I have is where do I find the movie list????
    Thanks for all your support

After ripping with dvdfab, use fixvts before using dvd shrink. Fixvts cleans up the files so shrink can read them better. See if that works.
