Ok. I have a Sony XBR40 LCD Tv. I also have Dishnetwork VIP722 HD Receiver (dual tuner). I have problems with the sound and video not matching up. It doesn't happen all the time. When its off, the sound lags slightly. This happens both on HD and SD programing. Is it my tv, receiver, or just the way programing is broadcast? One more thing. I recorded King Kong recently. On my HDtv the sound was off at different times in the movie. On my second tv (standard def) the sound wasn't off at the same spots. I don't know where to go from here. Do I call Sony or Dishnetwork? Thanks for any help.

Yes, a lot in that thread is what is happening to me. I am running everything through a Yamaha RX-V861 receiver via HDMI then one HDMI cable to my tv. I have a PS3 and my satalite receiver hooked up to my receiver. I listen to everything through my surround sound. I have the tv speakers muted. I'm sure my receiver probably has a delay feature except that the audio/video sync is not always off. I have never noticed the sync problem while watching a movie from my PS3. It just seems to be while watching tv.

Could be an issue with the satellite box? Is there a way to update the FW on it?

Are you using an older HDMI cable? Older cables don't have the lip sync spec added into them.

Could be a combination of things man. Hardware + HDMI cable. Hopefully someone else can come along and clear things up.

I found out that my Stereo Receiver has the ability to delay the sound. I have set the delay to 40ms. So far this seems to work. If things change, I will update this thread. Thanks for you help.
