Sound but no Video. can you help

I've been having some trouble playing back video files whether they are DVD, Xvid, avi, mpeg etc, specifically using GOM player, media player and AVS DVD player. The problem is that I have sound and even subtitles however there is no picture, just a black screen.

These files however work on DIVX player, which has left me even more confused.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I've used Gspot to identify any missing codecs and there aren't any.

I dont think this is a codec issue as the videos work on Div X player.

 

Try using VLC or Media Player Classic.

 

thanks for suggesting alternatives but i'd rather fix the problem itself.
Media classic doesnt show a picture either and VLC crashes
