    Hi

I am trying to burn 5 episodes of a TV series on to a DVD-R. The problem is that the sound seems to be about 4 or 5 seconds behind the video, so they are unwatchable.

I have tried burning 4 episodes instead of 5 and have also tried reducing the burn speed. Does any one have any ideas why this is happening?? and does anyone have a suggestion as to how i can stop the delay??

It doesnt happen with any other DVDs that i burn.
    Cheers

Stupot1, it might be a little more helpful if you could tell us the source of the video. Are the episodes from a commercial DVD, from a DVD standalone recorder, from bittorrent files, etc. Do the files play correctly in their original form? Were the files converted from another source? What programs were used?

Sorry i was a little vague!

The files are Bittorrent files (AVI format) and they have not been converted. I am using Nero 7 to burn them on to a DVD.

The files play correctly in their original form, when i play them from my PC directly. But once i burn them to DVD, and play them in a standalone DVD player, there is a delay with the sound/video.

I have managed to successfully burn other episodes from different shows on to DVD, and not had a problem with a sound delay.

    I hope this information helps.

The standalones that play AVIs can be tempermental it seems. I suppose it's possible that your standalone isn't particularly liking your media. Sometimes delays on regular delays are related to poor media. Sometimes just stopping the playback and then restarting gets the audio back in sync.

What brand of media are you using? The best by far are Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, and Made in Japan labeled Sony and Fuji disks. Disks made by Princo, CMC Mag (a lot of Memorex e.g.) is real crap and will lead to all kinds of problems.

If you are using media that isn't of the best quality, try using some and see if that solves your problem. Otherwise try making the AVIs DVD compliant and burning to DVD. Here's three programs to do this:

NeroVision (part of the Nero suite) free trial: http://www.nero.com
    VSO's ConvertXToDVD: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
    Intervideo's DVD Copy 4 (free trial): http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp

Seems to have solved the problem by converting to DVD format first.

    Many thanks!!

I have an issue with audio out sync problems:

I have been using Sonic MyDVD, and I've been trying to cature video from my VCR. I can do this with no problem, but when I play the video back on my PC, the audio is out of sync. The audio starts out ok, but then it lags behind the video. The same this happens when I burned it to a dvd and played it......

Does this mean that I have to shorten up the capture. The video is 3 hours long already, and I only capture 1 hour at a time as it is. I do this because I capture at the best quality possible.

Also, I've tried to capture with Vegas6, but for some reason it does not detect my capture device. I see it as a choice in the program, but when I try to start it, the capture device does not work. Is there a way I can get this to work?

I'm sure this has been in the forum somewhere, and I've looked for a a while and I didn't see anything that could help me?? If no answers, maybe a point in the right direction???? Thanks!
