For couple of weeks, I have been having problem with my sound device. Anythime I tried to play application that needs audio, the system shows an error like " no sound device installed" and the system doesn't bring any sound at all. I troubleshoot the problem through Device manager to search for any malfunction device but to my surprise everything is functioning well. I also tried to search through microsoft web but all to no avail.
I urgently needs assistance towards the solution of the problem. What are the things that I need to do? I am using Microsoft win XP.

I'm not too sure myself but sometimes the manufacturer releases updates for their products. what is the manufacturer of your sound device?

The easiest solution may be to remove and reinstall the sound drivers.

The risk is yours but I've done it many times.

    1) Open Device Manager
    2) Sound, video and game controllers
    3) Right click on your sound device (mine is NVIDIA nForce Audio Codec)
    4) Select uninstall
    5) Reboot and XP should reinstall your sound drivers.
