When playing a music cd, the sound appears as if I am fast-forwarding a tape or cd. It was working fine until recently. I tried various cd's and checked sound ans cd settings but found nothing unusual. I also tried other software such as MMJ and windows media. Can anyone help?
Sorry, your description is not clear to me ... Anyway, I'd try foobar2000 and play with different output modes (waveout, directsound, kernel streaming, asio (requires separate plugin) and with resampler DSP trying different sampling rates. My 1st guess for a reason as far as I understand the problem is a soundcard driver / windows sound settings issue. Reinstalling your soundcard drivers might be worth a try too.
