    Hi all,

Please can you help im having huge problems with my on board sound

I was getting sound ok a few weeks ago then all of a sudden it just went off.

I have onboard Realtek High Definition Audio.....I've been onto the website and installed the latest update but the problem has not been sorted...

Also I have tried playing sound through my headphones and still nothing.

Ive even switched from realtek audio and speakers on the sound settings and that doesnt help.

    Please help!

    Thanks

It might sound like a dumb question, but did you check to see if the sound was muted? Look at the speaker icon in the tray.

control panel --> sounds and audio devices ---> Volume tab and click advanced ---> turn everything up and make sure nothing checked "muted"

Then if it was me i'd need a magnifine glass and a flashlight to see it i am plugging things into to the right hole (of the three) for speaker output. Mine are the center hole.

    good luck

I was there last night trying to fix the problem but couldnt find a solution.

nothing was muted, speakers were plugged into the right jacks and all volume levels were turned to max.

I was thinking that maybe there was an issue with a vista update which might have caused the problem and that there could be a hotfix for this. It just seemed strange how one minute everything is working fine then all sound goes completely.

You've presumably tried reinstalling the sound drivers?

if not muted, no exclamation mark in device manager & no problem updating the driver then power regulator for sound chip most likely blown. if have a spare hd then load windows on to it to confirm that theory.
