I recently got my new video card last week (8800GT), so I've been playing a lot of games. Thing is, ALL of the games have cutscene sound issues. In Assassin's Creed, the voices don't line up with the video in conversations. However, it wasn't a big enough deal for me to want to do anything about it.
Next I moved on to Bioshock. Every time I got a new plasmid, the "add" for it would have a small sound gap every 3 seconds or so. And in conversations (not pre-rendered cutscenes), the sound didn't match up either. Once again, not a big enough deal to have to do anything about it.
But then I tried to play Mass Effect, and once again the sound in cutscenes didn't match the video. Now, in a story driven game like Mass Effect, that just won't do. So I installed the K-Lite Full Codec Pack and voila! it worked perfectly.
But alas, my problems were not over. I then tried to play Gears of War. Once again, a small gap in sound every 3 seconds or so in the pre-rendered cutscenes, and out of sync voices. So I uninstalled K-Lite Full and instead used the K-Lite Mega pack. It worked!
Unfortunately, I went back to Mass Effect and the same problem was back. And the game I want to play the most, Silent Hill 3, is even worse than the others. The sound is at least 5 seconds out of sync with the video (audio is faster).
I'm at my wits end. I've tried messing with hardware acceleration, removed all codec packs, and am currently manually uninstalling every codec I have. I could really use some help here.

For anyone interested, I fixed it. Manually removed all audio codecs through the Device Manager.
