This sometimes happens with AVI files with VBR audio.

You can load/drag the AVI into AviDemux and save the audio as a separate WAV file.
When saving the file give it a new name with the extension, e.g. audio.wav

Load/drag the AVI into DVD Flick.
(I assume you will read the guide and set the project Settings to suit (PAL or NTSC etc).
Click 'Edit Title' >'Audio Tracks' > 'Remove' (this ensures that the existing audio track in the AVI file will not be used).
'Add' and select the new .wav file as the audio.
Create the DVD (it would be best not to burn the DVD immediately so that you can play the output on the PC to check the sync).

Your saying that the original AVI has AC3 audio?

If it has, don't bother using Avidemux.

Just to be clear, you want to create a DVD movie with this AVI file?
What program did you use to convert it to DVD format (when it went out of sync).

It seems the original AVI is mp3 audio.
After you load the AVI into AviDemux, set the audio on the left side of the window to WAV and save the wav file as previously stated.

Load the original AVI into DVD Flick and follow the steps in my first post to use the new WAV file as the audio for the new DVD movie.
There is a guide included with DVD Flick which shows the general settings for authoring a DVD.

I don't have anything to offer, except to try another converter.
Since you have used ConvertX and DVD Flick already, it's a long shot.

Is the sync issue the same throughut the encoded file (constant-AviMux_Gui should fix this) or gradually get's worse (AviMux_Gui won't fix this)? Here's a guide for that but never tried it: http://forum.videohelp.com/topic309224.html (old thread,-any G Spot version will do).
