    Hi,

I am trying to encode a XVID.avi file to dvd that has AC3 audio. When ever i install the ac3 filter , GSPOT etc says its installed but i still have no sound when i play it back in my stand alone. When i click on the properties of the file it says audio codec AC3-ACM but despite what i do when ever i encode the file to dvd it has no sound.

I have tried everything to combat this but still no luck. I have been trying solid for 3 days , installing and uninstalling various codec packs.

It only happens with files that require AC3 filter, and despite it being installed i still get no sound. I do get sound on PC but not on dvd player after..

has anyone else had this problem and how did you fix it.....
    thanks

I would suggest reusing the AC3. No point in re-encoding. How/What are you using to convert?

    hi bud,

    thanks for the reply
what do you mean by reusing the ac3?.

I'm using WINAVI i now not the best prog but results are good enough for the speed there produced in.

I mean, don't re-encode it. Use it as is. Since the AC3 probably came from the original DVD, you get the original audio.

Never been near winavi in my life, so I have no idea what it can or can not do. Even if it does encode both, you could demux the video to m2v, demux the AC3 from the avi with AVIMuxGUI and then author. Problem is that the original AC3 is probably larger than winavi's audio, so the video would be too big.
