I'm using Sonar recording audio and Sony Sound Forge for editing. When I Export my project to .wav,mp3,ect..
the play back quality on my computer with MS media player is great. When I burn the same file to CD-R I get a subtle reverbing metalic tint on the tracks. I've used 2 different burners and 2 media types with the same result. I even fed the line out on my Aardvark card to line in on another recording computer and had great sounding .wav file ON the computer but when I burned this file i got the same result. I was trying to convert the file from it's original analog-Digital to Digital-analog-digital. Also, I do NOT have this problem with any other file I convert and burn off of Sonar/Sony. Could this project have some strange encoding on the file? Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rick

Have you tried ripping the CD-Rs you've created using e.g. Exact Audio Copy and comparing the result to the source files? (e.g. Wave substraction)

There should be no differences which would mean that the difference is caused by playback equipment (Soundcard vs. standalone etc.)

Tigre, thanks for the suggestion but I found the problem. I was recording @ 48Khz, 16 bit and my export software was not dithering down to 44.1/16 so that the file always sounded normal on the computer which can handle the higher sample rate but when burning an audio CD, the sound was real weird. I ran the original exported file thru AudioConvert and burned a successful audio copy. Now, I have to figure out why my software quit doing it's thing properly. I've burned many a Sonar project @ 48/16 with now problem.

    Thanks again for the suggestion.
