Hi! I'm encoding AVI files in SVCD compliant format using TMPGEnc. The source of the avi file is a DV file. The sound quality of the source file is very good but when I encode the mpeg file, the sound quality drop a lot. I tried to use "toolame" for the audio, as suggested by someone in that forum. It didn't give a better result. The sound seems to be only 8 bits, even if i know that it should be 144kHz, 16 bits, 224 kbits/sec. Is it normal than SVCD sounds bad or should it sound as MP3 ??

Thanks for supporting me Dela :)

Finally, I solve the problem. The sound of my DV-AVI file was in 12 bits and the "sampling frequency converter" of TMPGEnc was set on "low quality (high speed)". I just changed the setting on "high quality" and the sound is just great now !! :) So everybody should check this setting on TMPGEnc to be sure to get the best quality if the sampling frenquency needs to be converted.
