Originally, the dvd movie "Space Chimps 2" NTSC USA English R1 version had both the 3D + 2D versions on the same disc. The menu even reflects this. Unfortunately, I have two versions of this. One version with ONLY the 3D version (the 2D version removed), and the other disc has only the 2D version (3D version removed). I would like to put these two versions back together, preserving all extras and menu's etc. Both discs are exactly the same, containing the same menu, extras ect. The menu background is the same with a place for a menu button for both the 3D version and the 2D version. However in each copy, the version that was removed also has the corresponding button removed as well. When viewing the menu you can see where the other button SHOULD be, but obviously isnt. After reading MANY forum posts, I still cant figure this out. My idea was to copy both discs to the hard drive and add the .vob files for the 3D version into the video_ts folder of the 2D version, rename those vob files to vob6 since 1-5 are already taken my the 2D versions and extras, then figure out some way to re-create the dvd menu button to link to the 3D (vob6) version. I tried using "PGCEDIT", but in all honestly, I have no idea how. I tried creating a button using the same parameters as the other buttons, but i kept getting a message that the non-hidden button was NOT accessible by the remote. So when i viewed the "preview" of the menu, the button i just created didnt even exist. There is one menu that says to select 2D or 3D. The 2D button is the only button that currently exists and its parameters are: "Set gprm(14) =(mov)2 ; LinkTailPGC" So (not having any idea what i was doing) i created a button for 3D and set the parameters to "Set gprm(14) =(mov)6 ; LinkTailPGC" simply changing the "2" to a "6" thinking that the numbers corresponded with the vob files..............but I guess i am wrong. on the second menu that has buttons for the 2D version, extras, scene selection and setup, the paramaters for the 2D version are "Set gprm(0) =(mov)2 ; LinkPGCN PGC 10". Obviously I need to create a 3D button here as well which i assume would have similar paramaters to the existing 2D button's. All in all, I have no idea what "set gprm" or "LinkTailPGC" pr "LinkPGCN" or anthing else even mean. So.............how the heck do I do this? Nothing I have probably done yet is correct, but hey, at least I tried. Any help (in noob language) would be very helpful. I found many articles on combining two dvd's, but they dont include the original menu anymore, and they make other changes. I just want to put this dvd back together using the original menu. Basically, I just need to figure out how to add the 3D version back into the 2D disc. I just need to figure out how to add the .vob files back into the disc and how to re-create the menu button so that when its selected and clicked on by my dvd remote, it plays. If you need any more information, just ask. If I need any software programs regardless of it they are free OR expesnive retail version, just tell me and i will get them. However I can do this the easiest is best. Thank in advance for your help. -Slick
The only way to do it is with payware (DVD Remake Pro). http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/ht_merge_full.php There is no way that I have seen using freeware. At Doom9 there was a thread on how to do it using freeware programs, but the thread petered out without resolution. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=96211&highlight=broxburn The alternative is to author the titles to a new disk with a custom menu that would be used to select either title - but there would be no extras, trailers etc.
Thanks for your response. I looked at that software before as well, but it appeared that while it did combine both discs together, it also created a NEW menu that just allowed you to select either disc. When i put the disc in the standalone dvd player, i want the normal retail dvd menu to show up right away and to be able to select either 3D, 2D, extras, scene selection, or setup. I dont want to have to go through another menu just to get to the retail menu. Isnt there anyway with programs that can edit the VOB, INFO, and BUP files on the disc to regognise the extra 3D vob files then use something like PGCEDIT to re-create a button to launch those VOB files? There has to be a way. I mean, the dvd is made that way originally.....i just want to put it back together. Any ideas? -Slick
