Sorry if this is in the wrong area on this forum, but I just wanted to ask about wiring up DVD player to my hi-fi, I have 2 really big speakers and other little ones, the little speakers belong to a differant set, but does anyone know if you can wire up two speakers onto a port that is meant for one? i.e having two positives in one port and two negatives in another? would it work?
it all depends on the impedance of each speaker and what the device can hold cause if u hook them up in parallel the impedance will be knocked down by half assuming that they are both the same kind of speaker if u hook them up in series u will double the impedance so look up what ur reciever will handle and then check the speakers the impedance on the recieverand the speakers should at least match u dont want to drop too far below that value or u start frying stuff if your speaker impedance is higher than that value then ur speakers just wont sound as good but most quality recievers have a range and not just a set value hope this helps short and sweet yes u can but be carefull u might fry something
