I just purchased a 6.1 surround system with speakers but I am leasing a house with surround sound speakers already installed. The connections on the system are different from the connections on the wall. Is there someplace for me to read how the wiring should be connected? The wall connections appear to be screw together connections that do not clamp down on the bare wire used to connect to the amp.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, it appears that you have 5-way binding posts mounted on a wall plate. If that is the case, you have any number of options. First you can just wrap or insert the bare wire under the screw terminal and tighten it down. You could also attach the bare wire to "spade lugs" (u shaped metal) or "pins" (straight metal) and tighten down on these. Finally, you could attach the bare wire to "banana plugs" which would then plug into the center hole on each terminal. Then you would connect the bare wire to the receiver in the normal fashion.

    Hope this helps. Bob

I have a catalog with a bunch of the speaker adapters, converters, etc. that you may like. I'll post the link here when I find it (at work).
