Have you plugged the speakers into the green socket or the black one?

I see, So I guess the clue is that the card does have some analouge sound output as you did get sound with another set of speakers.

When you say you have these digital speakers, can you please expand on that? What model are they? Is there a setting on them to enable them to work as normal speakers?

What about connecting your set to the digital output of the sound card throught the SPIDF jack?

Hello. I need to find the cheap and best digital audio card and a virtual dj system to buy that can be hooked up to my laptop from which i can connect to amplifiers or speakers to start a home based DJ system. It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any info regarding this or guide me to another person who you think might be able to hep in assisting me to setup a dj system. Currently all I have is a dell lattitude laptop 1.2 GHz, 512RAM and XP home edition installation. I am also looking at the possibilities of hooking up the sound card to my existing one of 3 home theater system. I have a Denon 5.1 home theater. AVR 1603; AVR 5800 and Bose Lifestyle 38. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, currently i do not have any sound card on my laptop. I need to purchase one. I am wondering which one should i get to hook up to my theater systems. I am more keen to hook up to the Denon AVR 1601 system which is inturn connected to 5.1 speakers.

    I need to purchase a
    1) Sound card
    2) DJ Software for some mixing and continuous play
    3) Any cables to connect the sound card to my Denon System.

I am looking for something basic and not to spend a fortune.

I could also bring my desktop from upstairs and use that. But Laptop are a lot easier, right? I will have the freedom of taking it anywhere i want. I have seen other djs using their laptops to play music in parties. I want to be able to do the same thing.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry if I am not clear regarding my questions. I currently have

a laptop and home theater systems. My laptop has nothing that can connect to these systems. I do not have pci cards. I do not have any virtual dj system on my laptop. I need to purchase all these.
But I know that people use their laptops to play music in parties like DJ. I thought by buying a virtual dj software and buying a sound / audio card which will hookup to my laptop and thru which i could connect to the A/V receiver, i can start practicing to become a DJ.

So, no pci card, no dj software currently with me. Only regular laptop and few home theater systems. What do i need to send the audio output from my laptop to the A/V receiver so that it can start sending the music to the 5.1 system i have. Also, which virtual dj software is cheap enough to buy but will let me play music in dj style; basic mixing, fading from one song to another, etc.

Hope my questions are clear enough. Thanks for your response so far.

Thanks a lot. I have received some more feed back from other sites. Yahoo questions and answers is another good source if you ever have questions in the future. And that service is also free. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
