Special Favor For A Special Needs Person

I have a special request. My younger brother is Mongoloid (Severely Mentally Retarded). He can read and write at about a kindergarten or first grade level.

I bought him a DVD player for Christmas and many family members and friends bought him DVDs. He is struggling with the menu functions. My parents are elderly and never mastered the VCR, so they're of little help.

Is there a way I can use Shrink to make the movie go directly to the main movie function and begin playing with no menus at all?

I'm a fairly experienced Shrink user, but have never had this need. I tried burning just main movie, but menus remained.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My brother lives for TV and movies. He especially likes weather disaster types. I believe there will be a special blessing for any help provided.

Try this:
After you "Open Disc", click the "Re-author" button at the top, next to "Full Disc" button, you normally use. You'll see the list of Titles, and stuff, running down the page, near the middle of the screen.

There is a heading that says "[bold]Main Movie[/bold]".
Under that heading, you'll see: Title 1, with info beside it. Something similar to: 01:49.15 and 2,718 MB
Double click "Title 1". It will show up in window on left side.
Then click "Backup", like you normally would..........

I've only done this once, a long time ago. But, I'm pretty sure, it goes straight to the movie, if I remember correctly. )

 

I agree with JVC, if you use shrink in reauthor mode you'll backup just the title you want (title 1 is usually the one you're looking for) without all the extras or menu functions. The player should go straight to the movie when the disk is inserted.

This is the only way I burn movies and when you put the movie in you player it plays you don't have to do anything like JVC posted in shrink you drop and drag just the main movie when you re-author and I use DVD Decrypter to burn a ISO file to the disc it works just fine let use know if you need more help

 

Yes I agree movie only mode is what I use. More space for the film and it will auto run. Weather disaster films? Twister with Bill Paxman comes to mind...

He has Twister on VHS and he has literally worn it out. When the twisters come he gets under a table or something. He really lives it.

Don't forget Shrink is of limited value now as its no longer being updated, but it works ok as part of the RipIt4Me group of programs...

Dont forget the "Day After Tomorrow" movie for some cool weather effects. It has it all, lightning, thunder, tornadoes, hail, eartquakes, tsunamis, etc...!

How about Poseidon? Or Earthquake from the 70s - dunno about bad weather though...

 

Yes I still use Shrink too...just a caution about using it on its own...

Happy Feet should be a good one when it comes out...lots of bad weather and the Penguins sing & dance...

I tried the method on Over The Hedge and it worked flawlessly.

My brother has many, if not all of the titles you folks mentioned. Weather related movies are a hot item for his birthdays and Christmas. He's in his 40s but he still loves Scooby Doo.

Someone got him Day After Tomorrow last year but it's on VHS.

I may convert some of his old tapes to DVD as well.

The direct to movie method will enable him to enjoy the discs.

first put the movie in and start Shrink open the disc in shrink in the top right corner click Re-author now look for the main movie click that and drag over to the left side and drop it in the big white space under DVD Structure then click backup
