    Hi marty7344
    Welcome to aD

Sounds like your using Vision to transcode files like avi's. If that's the case than your time is right.

If you using like Recode they may be a bit long depending on what options you have set.

    Hi,

I used this very easy-to-understand guide (first one I am seeing that is really easy to follow, thanks!) to try Vision Express to convert an AVI file to DVD (size of file is 18GB).

I am having a pretty fast computer (Intel 3.2GHz+Hyperthreading, 1GB RAM), and the video size is 1:30 hours. I am using "Standard Play" instead of "High quality" for the quality setting. And finally I am writing to a fast SATA-2 disk. But when the Vision starts the process, it says that it is "Transcoding tape" and that part will take "2hrs 20 mins", while the "Total Progress" Remaining is "258 hours 37 mins", which amounts to almost 11 days!

Does anyone have any idea why it should take this long ? I waited for about 30 mins thinking that the number will reduce to 2-3 hours, but even after 30 mins, it shows "258 hours, 7 mins".

    Any help is really appreciated!

    Thanks,

    - KK

    Hi krikkku
With your specs it should definitely be running faster than that. Somethings amiss with that
Did you mean a 1.8 gig file though?

When using Vision keep as much memory free as possible - no multitasking and close any unnecessary programs.

What version of Nero are you using like 6.6.0.18 or 7.2.3.2b?

    Hi Binkie7,

    Thanks for your response!

"Did you mean a 1.8 gig file though?"

No. I am trying to convert home videos to DVD (been trying to do this for last year without any success till I saw this article on how to convert using convenient tools instead of having to figure out 10 different tools!). So it is around 90 mins which comes to 18GB. I broke it up to 45 chapters using Vision, not sure if that can cause Nero to give such a high number (11 days to convert).

"When using Vision keep as much memory free as possible - no multitasking and close any unnecessary programs"

I am doing nothing else on the computer. It is a fresh install OS (winXP+SP2) and no apps are running. Almost 1GB is free.

"What version of Nero are you using like 6.6.0.18 or 7.2.3.2b?"

I am using "Nero Vision Express 3.1.0.25". About Nero itself, the version "Nero Express 6.6.1.4 Enterprise Edition". Though this problem is happening when running Nero Vision Express.

    Thanks,

    - KK
