Ok, here is a good one for you all... I have just bought a samsung home theater that can connect to the internet if I use the dedicated wireless dongle (and at £50 erm NO!) or connect via ethernet (and I am too far from my router and want to do this CHEAPly or I'll not bother). I do however have an old Speedtouch ST576 Wireless Router and I was wondering if it is possible to use it as a wireless bridge so I can connect into my existing wireless network. Anyone got any ideas?
sorry dont know much about the speedtouch st576 but you can buy 30+meters of lan cable for around £10 on e-bay inc delivery anyway hope some1 else can help out with the speedtouch
Thanks for the response - the lan cable is probably the best way to go - just means lifting the floor... damn!
can you not just drill through it or go through the window tack it down the wall and in the other window??
it's the same room, but I need to pass a door. it also means moving an oak book case... it is going to be a BIG job.
well dont start hacking away just yet type in wireless n the search box above im sure you will get a few hints/tips also you will find someone who will show you how to do it wireless here is a few starter threads good luck mate click here
To be honest, I had a look at costing some hardware up - my spare router will work if I reduce my encryption to WEP (erm, no thanks) and hardware that will handle WPA costs around the same as the dedicated Samsung Dongle... I may go that way after all. Now all I have to do is solve the fan noise issue (airflow noise) with my HT-BD1220 and I am sorted! Thanks for all your help though.
