This morning my virus program (Avast) updated....When it finished, the blue splash screen that the information was on remained on...writing gone, but the blue box remains. This box seems to be in front of all windows, it even appears on a reboot before Windows compleatly boots up.?????? It is so odd that I can even move my cursor behind the blue box and click on icons behind it. Can't see the icons but when I click on one by chance they execute???? Any advice will be appreciated...
I would first uninstall avast and then install ccleaner from ccleaner.com, run the cleaner and then go to tools and registry scanner and scan for problems and then choose to fix the problems but make sure you create a backup when it asks you to. Then if you rally want to, re-install avast, but I usually stick to avg free.
Thank you for the reply! Would you believe that I even went so far as doing a "System recovery" to get rid of the blue box? losing five years of stuff. Bought a new computer,,,,,installed my existing monitor on it and found the blue box there too. Turns out that the monitor has a tv tuner built in. The tuner has a Picture in Picture feature that I had forgot about as I never use the TV. Avast somehow switched on the PinP.... Live and learn, even though it's damn expensive to do so.
Wow, I don't think I would have EVER thought of that! Well I've definitely learned something today, that weird stuff can happen because of tv cards built into monitors (who ever knew such things existed?!)
