ok, i aplogize if this is the wrong forum but it seemed like the closest one. heres my "problem," i have a mac installation disk on a dvd. i had someone copy it to their pc and send it to me because i don't have a dvd drive. so now everything that was on the dvd is now a image on my iBook. i don't have a burner on this computer....what i'm wondering is if its possible to split the installation image into sizes that will fit on multiple cds, and if this is possible, 1. how do i do it, and 2. will it still let me install the program?
Moved to the Mac forum...even though this location could be fine for this topic you'd probably get a better response from the mac guys.
If you are able to split the DMG file you wont be able to intall it as the installer wont know where the rest of the file it. I would buy a external DVD burner. That would be your best bet.
Sure, you can split a large file, burn the parts to different CDs, copy them back to the computer, then combine them back. Use something like this: http://www.xs4all.nl/~loekjehe/Split&Concat/
