My younger brother tried to softmod his xbox using the spliter cell game saves by following a guide that he found on this forum. He got it installed ok and got to the point where he put the game into the disc drive and then got to the Evox dashboard(this is as far as he got). He never installed any other dashboards or anything else. He then decided that he no longer wanted his xbox softmodded so he went into the memory and deleated the 2 splinter cell game saves from the xbox hard drive thinking that this would restore his x-box back to normal. Of corse this did not work and now the only thing that happens when he turns on his xbox is that a call customer support screen comes up and he mentiond that an error 13 or something like that was on the screen also. I have not actally seen his xbox or what he did but over the phone this is how he decribed it to me. Does anyone know how to restore his xbox back to how it was before he even tried to install the softmod in the first place. Any help would be greatly apriciated he is pretty desperate.

When softmoding an xbox he should have made a backup of his c:drive when the splintercell game is booted and at the mod installation! if he did not back it up or if he did and deleted it he is screwed unless he had his c: and e: drives backed up on the computer he maybe able to fix his xbox by using xboxharddrivemaker! Ask him if he deleted or even made the backup for his xbox? he might be able to still play games tho and make sure he didnt have the disk tray open or it would try to boot to the linux installer that he deleted.

need any more help just ask

He didn't make a back up of either c: or e: drives on the hard drive of the xbox or the computer. So I guess that he is "SOL"

Hmm... well, you can either use XboxHDM with Slayer's C backup

    OR

You can run a Live game connected to your PC without being online using a crossover cable (just make it think it's online by having the Xbox's LAN connection active)and have it update your dashboard with the update included on the disc. The XBL game has to be an original in order for it to work. As long as the game thinks the Xbox is online it'll update the console before even trying to hop on live, but just to be sure, don't try it while you're online. I have tried this with Halo 2. I'm pretty sure other XBL games can do the same, but that's the only game I've tested this second method with.

Also, if you popped in the shadowc directory in and filled your C drive with it, your only option is using the XboxHDM method through hotswapping.

it's not working... it won't give me the option to conect to xbox live when its connected to my computer.....even when i connect it to my cable modem it says cannot connect and it asks me to start trouble shooter....if i start the trouble shooter the game just restarts all over......where can i get a slayer disc???? or if it's any thing else u think i can do please tell me please... thank you

IF there's no backup then hotswapping seems to be your only hope to get it fixed. But you'll have to get Slayer's for that anyway and put the files for your fixed C along with XboxHDM on a CD. To save you the confusion, XboxHDM is used on your computer. You boot your PC with this disc, and it'll let your browse the Xbox hard drive in order to copy or delete any files causing the issues. I suggest you download XboxHDM 1.9 and read the readme file. It has a very thorough tutorial on hotswapping and anything related to it.
