Is ther an easy way to split? When I say easy I mean something as easy as DVD Shrink is to compress. I have numerous training DVD's that are not viewable after compression. Therfore I need to split them onto 2 disks. These things have very complicated menuing systems so I hope re-linking ((tahts a work I just read) is something I do not have to do. What are my available options? PS Thank you all who have helped so far - I am backing up my DVD collection like a pro (except when I do it like a newbie )
You can split with Shrink using the start and end points. Disc 1 from the beginning to an end point where you choose. Disc 2 start where you left off and go to the end.
swotz, When you say [bold]"as easy DVD Shrink"[/bold] - DVD Shrink compresses DVD's "automatically" The only 2 [bold]truly, "1 touch" programs[/bold] I know are DVD XCopy original OR DVDFab. Both are for $$.$$ programs but are extremely easy. You might want to stay with DVD Shrink and split them manually. Ummmmmmmmmmmm Splitting DVD's with DVD Shrink is the easiest thing ever! Now to peel backl the onion. Splitting DVD's with DVD Shrink is easy if you are only keeping the movie. What happens if you keep the whole menuing system? Since these ar etraining DVD's I would like to keep the bogus navigation. Thnaks Chris You guy ROCK....!
I don't think there is an easy way to split a DVD and still retain the menu system. Certainly not with Shrink. When you make the statement: "I have numerous training DVD's that are not viewable after compression". What kind of quality are they? Have you performed a "Deep analysis" for ripping ? The training discs consist of 6 dvd-9's. Each DVD is filled to capacity and has detailed screen shots of the applications they are training on. I have ripped the entire collection to my hard drive in an uncompressed format. When I try to burn just the primary VOB (which requires compression) it compresses to 60% approximatley. At that compression level you cannot see the details on the screen.
I think this thread has a lot of merit. I have always shied away from IFOEdit. Perhaps this is a good application for it. The holy Grail of true Re-authoring. Regards, CK
DvdReMake will let you do completely customized splits. Including relinking menus in quite easy way (if you choose to).
swotz, If you want to split your DVD-9s and keep the menus why not give Nero recode 2 a try. It operates like DVBD Shrink but allows you to keep functioning menues - Pete
