Everytime I visit Afterdown I run Ewido to find out that my PC is infected with this Spyware cookie. Is this coming from Afterdown?
I somehow recall having made that same observation in the recent past as well, however since I visit other sites I couldn't say that it it was solely restricted to visiting the AD site. Why it seemed that it would always occur when I visit AD was the fact that as soon as my browser opened I would immediately head straight for AD or sometimes I have it as my default home page. However if I had msn as my homepage it would still occur. What OS are you running. If you're using either Win Me or XP you have to turn off the restore feature before running Ewido or else you will think it's gone but in fact it is still very much on your computer. Have a look at this article and see if it helps you http://www.derkeiler.com/Newsgroups/microsoft.public.security.virus/2004-11/0005.html
Most cookies are normally harmless and just hold information about your password and logon so that you don't have to keep entering the same information all the time. The easiest way to remove them is by using a program such as AdAware (freeware) or Webroot's Spyware Sweeper, (not freeware) when you have finished surfing. You also have the option of blocking installation of cookies under Internet options, but the website may not load or work properly if you do. Many cookies expire after a certain time anyway so normally they are not worth worrying about.
Ok you might be onto something, which is no fault of AD, but appears so because of its association with Google. Check out this thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/280365 and look at DRD's comment.
Use SpywareBlaster to prevent those spyware cookies coming -> http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html Install, update and click "Enable all protection".
