My pc is infected with some sort of spyware. My wallpaper was changed to some link that says "Warning spyware detected in your computer: Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer.....view the list of top spyware removers here". I can't remove or change this wallpaper in my pc. I tried running antispyware software(evido) but it didn't fix the problem. I also have this constant pop-up on the lower right portion of my screen the says "your computer is infected" and there is an icon on the lower right portion which has the "X" mark.....pls help

    @emokid204:

Uninstall via add/remove programs (control panel), if present:

    Alfa Cleaner
    Media Access

Fix these with HjT (do a system scan only, checkmark these and press fix checked):

    Update ewido, don't scan yet.

Download SmitRemFix by Noahdfear to your desktop -> http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/click counter/click.php?id=1. Once downloaded, double click to uninstall all the files into a folder, but do not run the program yet. SmitRemFix must be run in Safe Mode.

    Save FixSF.reg on desktop
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/reg/FixSF.reg
    Doubleclick it and click yes.

    In safe mode:

Click Start -> Control Panel; launch the Add / Remove Programs icon.

Find the entry for SpyFalcon and double-click on it. Follow the prompts to uninstall the program, but do not allow it to reboot the computer if it asks.

When it has completed uninstalling you can close Add or Remove Programs and your Control Panel.

Delete the following files and folders (if they exist):

    C:\Windows\System32\dxmpp.dll
    C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ginuerep.dll
    C:\Program Files\Media Access
    C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\0b212bfa.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\kci\Local Settings\Application Data\0b212bfa.exe
    C:\winstall.exe

Open smitrem-folder and doubleclick runthis.bat. Follow instructions.

Scan with ewido, let it remove what it finds and save report

Reboot, post a fresh HjT log, ewido report and contents of c:\smitfiles.txt

Delete this from IE favorites -> shopping

Empty your Temp folder -> C:\WINDOWS\Temp

Otherwise looking good. Still having problems?

everything seems to be ok.....but my desktop wallpaper remains to be just a plain white background, even if I try to change it, it still remains plain white. My computer also seems to be running slower than usual

Ok, that smitfraud may have caused that

    Do this:

Please download the Registry Search tool by clicking on the "hard drive" icon halfway down this page:
    http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/
Save it to the desktop and run it. If you get an alert from your antivirus about scripting, choose to allow the script to run. Search for warnhp.html and click OK. Post the logfile from the tool here for me.

Save that deskfix on your desktop and try again.
