Hi WildRice3, Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and before the Windows icon appears press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode with Networking". Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. <-- Don't forget this. • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt Reboot into Normal Mode.. • Please post the MBAM Log and a fresh HJT log in your next reply. After running MBAM you should be able to download and install the latest ver. Of HJT ->TrendMicro HijackThis.exe (HJT) 2OG
So I installed the malwarebytes program, but I had to download it from download.com because this spyware won't let me navigate to any of the sites like malwarebytes.org or kapersky's website or even adaware's website. It hung up at the end of installation and then would run after restart... it wouldn't uninstall either. I finally killed some processes and it uninstalled but I can't get it to install at all now. I think I'm just going to give up. I'm out of school after tomorrow and I can just save all my stuff to my external drive and reformat. I guess it's about time for a good cleaning anyway. Thanks for your help. Will
WildRice3, Reformat/reinstall is a task for sure.. You may want to goto SafeMode with Networking and download MBAM from CNets Download.com. Download Here Install it and run it in Safe Mode…. That may do it for you….. 2OG
