Am I able to simply burn divx video files onto a CD-R like a regular data cd and then play them in the dvd player?

Yes its possible but you will need the right DVD player, one capable of playing Mpeg4(divX/Xvid). The yamada dvx-6100 £80 amazon prob the best one. www.digitalathome.com Site dedicated to standalone Divx players.

i have a lite-on whois only capable 2 detect DivX movies who are encoded with the DivX codec! Other codecs he won't accept!

I have lots of movies encoded with Microsoft MPEG-4 V1
    in a resolution of 1024 X 768!

On my pc these are very nice movies, but my standalone player won't accept it.. When i encode this movies from MS to DivX codec.. it still doest work :S

Can someone help me please! Is it possible that a movie won't work in 1024 x 768 in a DivX-Dvd player!?
    ThnX
