Hello all. Apologies if this has been asked before but as I'm pretty new here thought I'd make this post and ask for urgent help!!!! I had ConvertXtoDVD, an LG DVD re-writer and Nero 6. My PC gave up the ghost and I had to get a newer one. I now have ConvertXtoDVD, a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203B (Toshiba/Samsung DVD re-writer) and Nero 6. The only thing new is the DVD burner. Right, my problem is my standalone DVD player no longer recognises (says NO DISC), when I put in a Verbatim DVD+RW disk I have made by converting a downloaded movie .AVI file using ConvertXtoDVD, then burnt as a DVD-Video in Nero. It used to work in my old PC with the exact same software and same blank DVD+RW disks, but now, my standalone DVD player refuses point blank to recognise the disk. Sorry, I seem to be repeating myself a lot. Does anyone please have any idea why this is happening? Is it really down to the new TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203B burner ? Please help, Yours confused.... Grey Alien (UK).
Sorry, I forgot to say the strange and annoying thing is that both Media Player Classic and PowerDVD both can play these Verbatim DVD+RWs on the PC, but I need them to work on my standalone DVD player.
I'd try another brand of RW, could just be a bad match between the Verbs and the new burner. Do non-rewritables work right?
@greyalien It is possible that your LG burner was set-up to booktype the DVD+R(W) to DVD-ROM, which increases compatibility with stand alone players. Some burners auto booktype. Some don't. If your new burner is capable of booktyping, make sure it is set to DVD-ROM and give it another try.
Thanks, but how do I know if my new TSST burner is capable of booktyping, and if it is, how do I set it to DVD-ROM please ? ...and if I can set it to DVD-ROM, will this affect the burning of DATA DVD discs as my girlfriend takes lots of digital camera pictures and stores them as DATA DVD discs. I don't want to mess up the DVD re-writer altering setings you see !
Booktyping tp DVD-ROM will not mess up anything. It just makes the +R(W)more compatible with the players. There is nothing to lose. http://k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/439143
Hi all. Tried 5 brand new Verbatim DVD+RWS, they all play in my PC - but NOT in the standalone DVD player I then tried Verbatim +R disk = fine, Verbatim -R disk = fine, Verbatim -RW disk = fine ! So it looks like it has to do with this Samsung burner then as these Verbatim +RW worked fine before in the standalone DVD player.... I'm stuck with lots of +RW DVDs now
