This is what im trying to do i record alot of programs for my kids,I use a Sony RDR-GX315 Recorder.I then burn them to a DVD-RW disc in VR mode.My kids machines are apex from walmart, the box and manual say they will play DVD-RW.when i put disc in their machines say disc error,if i put the disc in another sony dvd player it works.also when i format these discs i have the option of vr mode or video mode.Any help would be appreciated, the reason for useing the rw discs is so after they are done i can erase and reuse.I also finalize these disc when im done recording.but have tried both ways in my kids machines.

Thanks for any help or suggestions,

Only use Video mode. Very few devices support VR mode. Be sure that the RW format (+ or -) is supported by the intended playback devices. Finally, try changing media - that causes almost all standalone playback problems, be they RWs or regular R recordables. It's possible you might not find an RW media that will work in all your standalones, but you might. Generally, try to use media that is made in Japan (MIJ). I don't know if Verbatim makes RWs but give them a shot if you can find them.
