I just received my copy of Star Trek 2009 early. Making my back-up was similar to all the trouble with Transformers 2.

Used DVDFab6; main movie; pathplayer off, preview screen disabled; CHOOSE TITLE 21; had to "ignore" error only once, in the beginning.

Also went back and did Title 48 (Gag reel) as well. Used DVDShrink to turn both video files into one .iso file and burned with DVDDecrypter. Back-up plays perfectly.

Sorry, I do not know if zone 2 is configured differently or not. If you play the movie in a DVD player, you will see the correct title on the display screen once the movie starts. I hope that helps.

I use 6.1.1.5. Before you put the DVD in, open up DVDFab6, choose Main Movie, turn off Pathplayer & preview screen and then exit out. Put in DVD then re-open DVDFab6 and it opens with new settings in place and it should read okay from there. Choose Title 21 when all available titles are shown.

Does not work for me. The movie seems to play okay but will not backup.

Pathplayer and preview disabled, main movie with title 21 selected and error messages ignored twice.

    Anyone else having success?

Edit: I was able to copy the disk by ignoring several "error while reading messages". I appears to play okay, but DVDFab 6.2.0.5 told me there were 64 errors on the disk.

I used DVDFab v6.1.2.5 with (pathfinder off) and choose title 21. No errors and the disk ripped and burnt perfectly. Thanks

I was successful with the latest version (had to update before it would work) of AnyDVD running in the background with CloneDVD2. Testing my backup in DVD player right now and viewing perfectly. SlySoft has a 21 day trial on both AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 if you wanna try it first.

    Star Trek XI

Use DVDFab 6.2.0.5 with Pathfinder off BUT choose CUSTOMIZE for
    Chapter 21 - Feature Movie
    Special Features
    Chapter 29 - New Vision
    Chapter 48 - Gag Reel
    Chapter 81 - Previews

It's always better to use Customize once you've used the DVD player to find the Correct Chapters to acquire

Dvdfab 6.2.0.5 with pathplayer always enabled, no errors whatsoever, this time it showed the right title by itself unlike the time I used with the latest Transformers movie, but just in case I tried with Anydvd latest version and clone dvd, and worked just fine as well.

I bought Star Trek regular version yesterday Region 1. Pulled it with DVDFab5 everything worked well. Than went ot DVDshrink...and giving me way to much to chose from......

no way it can be TITLE 21 (unless it's a fake mb count?) because it only shows 2,138 MB which would be pretty crappy resolution I'm guessing.....can you guys help?

    Thanks!

Like UP, Transformers, and GI Joe, the big players will have the decryption software ready when Star Trek is released on DVD. Both DVDFab and Slysoft are getting the job done.

I have been trying to rip this with MactheRipper 3.0 and then burning the video_ts with Toast and for some reason it won't work. When I try to add the files to toast it just goes automatically from the compilation menu to the dvd copy menu. Has anyone had any luck making a good copy with MactheRipper?

I must say I haven't had very good luck recently burning with my mac, I kinda miss my PC setup...

AnyDVD 6603 had no problem aiding Nero Recode in backing up Star Trek !
As usual. Backed up the day of release. And actually a good movie.

I'm sure CloneDVD will work with it-probably Shrink also.

    Hi,

I also made a back up copy of the new StarTrek movie. I had no problems making the back up copy however, when I put the movie in my dvd player or my bluray player the movie sets up like it is going to play. Then it sits and does nothing. I can skip to chapter 2 and then it plays fine. I can also skip to chapter to and rewind to the beginning of the movie and it plays fine. It just doesn't seem to want to kick off. I used dvdshrink with dvd43. Another thing that may or may not be a issue here is I just got some new media, Verbatim Inkjet printable DVD-R 16x discs. Could that be the problem or should I be looking at something else?

I know that these newer movies seem to be harder to copy and I was thinking they need the menu to get going. I am not sure I want to add the extra compression to add the whole disc to get the menu.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

MactheRipper has not been updated in at least 2 years, so your problem does not surprise me I have a Pc and a Mac but I use MactheRipper only as a back up plan, when every program in my Pc did not have the job done.
Ps: try the ripper Handbrake and see how it goes, good luck.

For those with Mac problems, they may want to check out the Mac section.

Unfortunately for Mac owners the better software (and best supported) for doing DVD and Blu Ray backups is written for PC.

    @rmousir
Many, including myself, realize DVD43 isn't exactly AnyDVD in disguise. I'm guessing your interest is in freeware. Try ripping the DVD using the latest free ripper from DVDFab and open the ripped files in DVDShrink.

I already have the video files copied to my hard drive and i've tried to burn them with dvdfab 6125. and the first time i tried it got to about 70% then failed out. I tried again and it got to 95% then failed out. it did this two more times before i wanted to ask some one. i also tried converting the video_ts forlder with dvdfab and then trying to let it burn and that failed too. any ideas would be greatly appriciated.
