I currently have a virgin media subscription to the basic package. I have the old NTL box. I have heard that chipped boxes can be used but don't know anything about them. I have tried searching and found a lot of info but nothing specific. I have read that star view boxes might be the best way for me to get all channels free. I have a few questions 1) What is the best star view box to buy and can you give me any links to them. 2) Does the firmware on them need updating or can it be used straight after buying. Also is it simple to do. i know nothing about TV receivers but have flashed other things in the past. 3) Do they just replace the existing NTL box. 4) is there anyway of getting caught using one i will be grateful of any help thanks
1 : Have a look on flebay, theres plenty of SV boxes there 2 : yes the boxes need to be updated with the relevant firmw@re 3 : They dont replace any boxes, you connect the cable from the basic cc package to the sv b0x. 4 : The only way you will get caught is if you tell the cable co. you have one. updating info can be found here >>> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/663923
Thanks for your help this might seem obvious but would we have to keep the subscription to the basic NTL package in order for it to work or could we just unsubscribe.
