I used decrypter only, made a full backup on a DL disc. Works fine...

What error message are you getting with DVD Shrink?

What error message are you getting with DVD Decrypter?

Revenge Of The Sith is really nothing special. I backed up with DVD Decrypter using Mode, File F flawlessly into my hard drive. Here's what you need to do.

    - go to your hard drive or c: drive and make a folder name REVENGE OF THE SITH then hit "ENTER" to save it.
    - now go inside REVENGE OF THE SITH and make another folder name VIDEO_TS then hit "ENTER" to save it.
    - now open up DVD Decrypter (version 3.5.4.0)

((NOTE: in prior to “decrypt or rip” the original movie, take a few seconds to check the few following “settings” on DVD Decrypter.))
** once DVD Decrypter is open, go to Tools, and Settings
** at General “Removal Method” arrow down to “Aggressive”
** at I/O [check or tick] “Ignore Read Errors”
** at CSS [check or tick] “Brute Force --> I/O key exchange, On Failure: use key from another file [YES]
** at ISO Write Mode, [check or tick] “Enable BURN-Proof
** at “ISO Read Mode” and “File Mode” [check/tick] on all of the Remove, Ignore, Patch and Create MDS file

****((Since you have DVD Decrypter open already, now let’s get going with the fun part))****

** now go to MODE, File F
** choose your “SOURCE” <-- your DVD-Rom drive or DVD burner where the Original movie is located.
** choose your “Destination” <-- browse to your “hard drive” with your newly created folder earlier; example: REVENGE OF THE SITH, then VIDEO_TS, click on OK.
** now click on “DECRYPT,” [located at the DVD & Burner icon] now wait until it's completed. That's it.... it's pretty sweet isn't it - easy as smoking..!!

first of all thanks everyone for the help, especially the detail info from alkohol. i was able with dvd decrypter to copy episode 3 to the hard drive. now here is the other problem. using dvd shrink, when i try to burn it to my dvd burner -- i get the error message
' burn process stopped with error, a write error occured, bad request, logical block address out of range.
any help with this would be great.

Try DVD Shrink with DVD43 running in background. Did you get any error with DVD Decrypter? Did all of the files decrypt, no skipped files?

That must be either a hardware issue or DVD Shrink issue, since you already ripped/decrypted the movie into your hard drive using DVD Decrypter.

Once you're done with DVD Decrypter, open up DVD Shrink, click on OPEN FILES, and browse to your folder [hard drive] that has REVENGE OF THE SITH, then VIDEO_TS and click OK. This should automatically retrieve the whole movie, from there on, just have DVD Shrink to encode and backup with either Nero or DVD Decrypter. I'll be back if you have anymore issues.

By the way, is there any errors when you encoded with DVD Shrink? Make sure to custom the size to 4360MB.

I do know that this part of the error code " logical block address out of range" means Shrink is using a command which is not supported by the drive. If you are burning using Nero post the log for us to read

Just tried out dvd dcrypter today with the same movie. According to Scuba Pete's directions,"Decrypter and Nero Recode2", when you open the VIDEO_TS folder there should be another window with the heading "Main Movie" with "Title 1". I did not get this. I did get the IFO and vob files. So what is up with this? Did I not tick the right settings? I was assuming that DVD Dec. would encode as well. I really want to use Recode 2 due to its burning reputation. Thanks.

Well, what version is your DVD Shrink? and what version is your Nero? It won't hurt to "uninstall" DVD Shrink and reinstall it back on (it's pretty quick anyway). If your Nero is older than 6.6.0.16, then I suggest you need to update to the last version of Nero 6 Ultra 6.6.0.16. Make sure your dvd burner's firmware is up-to-date as well. Go here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php and look for your burner's model and get the latest firmware -- it will help to enhances the burning performances and media compatibility.

On the other hand, why don't you do as Car.Mike suggested: get your Nero log, copy and pasted it here, so we can see what's causing the burning process to fail. Go here and get your log: C:\program files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory [for Nero 6], or C:\program files\Nero\Nero7\Core\NeroHistory [for Nero 7] and remember to edit out your Nero Serial number that starts with something like 1A23-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX or 5C82 something.

first let me say that i am new to this forum. and if i must say the help is amazing and impeccable. by the way i have the lastest versions of all the software i used, dvd shrink, dvd clone, nero and my burner nec 3540 has the lastest drivers. for some reason this approach did not work for me. and even though i purchased dvd shrink 5 days ago they are not refunding my money with a 30 day money back guarrantee.

anyway i solved the problem with ep3. so frustrated i went to download.com and downloaded apollo dvd copy. with ep3 decrypted on my hard drive using dvd decrypted - apollo burn it to a blank disc the first time around with no problems.

i guess there are different solutions for different computers.

again my thanks. i hope this will help someone else.

    brejaydon,
DVD Shrink is free and there is no way to buy it. If you paid w/ credit card dispute the charge at your bank. Where did you purchase that program and what was the whole name of the program
