    Hey all,
I recently brought a game called Rise And Fall CAW and i am trying my hardest to make a backup of this. Its a DVD-rom but apparently i carnt post anywhere about backups apart from here. Is there anyway of removing or getting this backup to work? I have heard alot about this protection and differnet methods which i have tried but failed. The method removing the IDE cable is popular but wont work for me.

If anyone has any info please post as this is tough to get round :/

    Windows XP Pro
    KN1 Extreme(v1.0) nforce 4
    AMD Anthlon 3.5 ghz
    1gig Ram
160 gig Maxtor HDD and 80gig Maxtor HDD
    256 GDDR3 Radeon x800

If theres anymore info you need please just ask

Im not sure if you will find a good answer here. Most poeple like myself refuse to buy any games with starforce protection on them. They like to mess up your hard drive a lot.

You can download a starforce driver removal tool from their website to remove anything thats starforce and to revert changes it has made when you have uninstalled the game. DAMN STARFORCE!!!!

    Sorry i have a AMD Anthlon 64 3.5ghz
    256 GDDR3 Radeon x800 PCI Express

Probally best way is to try and use clone cd. I had area 51 I recently sold and made a 1-1 copy using clone with no problems. And that uses starforce if I remeber correctly.

Then you have to go www.gamecopyworld.com and download a no cd exe file to run the game, since the game wont run on the copied disc....

Yeah i have looked on Gamecopyworld and gameburnworld but no patches available yet, I have looked on the starforce website and says the new starforce protecion blacklists daemon tools and alcohol 120%! Wonder if daemon or alcohol will release a patch for this.......
    Thanks for the replys!!

    as keithyb said below:

Keep away from games with this intrusive copy protection scheme. That will send the msg home that they can not treat consumers with this bull*^%.

I dont understand why they put this protection on these games when its not illegal to make a backup of your own collection as long as you have the original!

Sure it's legal to make back up copies. However, lets get real. There is still tons of people that pirate games. You always see "newbies" posting on this site saying " My friend made me a back up copy of the game but it won't work." I guess it does prevent SOME people from pirating the game. Hence why the protection is implemented.

Yeah this is all true but people who are being genuine and just want to make a backup of their games should be allowed to!! They should not have to buy 3rd party programs to remove protections and then buy a program like Nero or download a bunch of programs just to do this!! WE ALL SHOULD MAKE A COMPLAINT TO STARFORCE!!!!!! We should not allow this!!! THE REBELLION BEINGS!!!!!!
