Hi, I recently ordered a Chameleon mod chip w/solderless adapter from easybuy2000.com, and ever since then I've been looking around the net for as much modding info as possible. On my search I have noted that most of the tutorials out there really suck. So I have a few questions for anyone who would be kind enough to answer them IN DETAIL. Not to be demanding, but I really dont feel like having to buy another XBox. OK, I've downloaded EvolutionX_beta_V1.8.3285 (.rar file size was 2,569 KB). I also got xsnes9x V1.04 (.rar file size was 1,420 KB).
    Here's my questions about Evox:
1.Can I put my xsnes9x folder in the evox folder, I mean, will evox manage the emulator?
2.My evox .rar had a bios and skin folder, default.xbe, an info file, and what appears to be an .ini file. Is this all I need?
    About xsnes9x:
1.What are ips files and do I need them to play my roms
2.Will zipped roms work with xsnes9x or do I need to unzip them?
3.Xsnes9x has subdirectories in the roms folder for game categorizing. Can I add directories?

I'm pretty sure my xbox version is 1.0 or 1.1. What type of cdr's or rw's are best for me to use and what iso maker is best(I am currently using ISOmaker v1.21)?

Oh, yeah, last question. Is it possible to flash my chameleon through a boot cd, or do I have to buy the adapter thingamajig?

    Please help. I'm a noob

Can't help you with the EMU's and ROM's since I've never gotten into them.
First you will need to make a bios disc to reflash the Chameleon chip from the Linux bios to either an evox or xecuter bios. Make a folder on your PC called Bios and put your bios in that and rename it to linuxbio.bin, also add another folder inside the Bios Folder called dummy and fill it with about 200mb of anything. Use ISOMaker to create an ISO from everything inside your Bios Folder. Not of the Folder itself. Using ISOMaker once you double click the Bios Folder to open it you won't see your linuxbio.bin file just the dummy folder. This is fine.
Then boot the Xbox and when it prompts you for a disc just load your disc.
For a CD-RW try either 4X Sony or TDK disc's.

Thanks RustyDog, but just to make things as clear as possible, I'm renaming the bios file (EvoxD.6.bin) that came with my evox download to linuxbio.bin and putting it in an empty folder along with a 200mb dummy file, right? I dont have to include a default.xbe file or anything?

Oh, quick hardware question. I opened up my box to plan out my strategy for when I get my chameleon, and there's little metal stuff covering the 2 rows of holes that the adapter's pins are supposed to go in. Am I supposed to remove them? if so, how? Thanks for all help.

When you first flash the Chameleon chip using a disc you just need the linuxbio.bin file and the dummy folder(the dummy folder just takes up space on the disc). Make your Xbox ISO and then burn it to disc.
The .xbe file your talking about is part of the dash and gets installed on the hard drive after your chip is flashed.
Also check out the beginners guide on EasyBuy2000's website. It's a pretty basic guide.
Since the LPC holes are filled with solder you won't need the rivets that come with the adapter. The adapter will just contact the solder in the holes.
