I just bought a EZFlash V card. Yet to receive though. My Plan Is to Back up my sons game before I send it I'm for repair. We bought a "New" copy of Pokemon Platinum off EBay straight from Hong Kong. I've seen on how to use NDS Backup tool along with a FTP program. Looks real simple. Are there steppes I'm missing as I sort through all these how to guides to prepare the DS to run this Homebrew App. Also I have yet to cross if it is posable to install multiple games to one Flash card and run it from a menu. The Kit I bought is coming with a 2G Micro-SD Card. I'm coming from the Wii seen with USBLoader on the brain.
Finally This Pokesav program I have been looking at always references Diamond and Pearl. Will it work equally for Platinum?

    Thanks for the direction.

    Q. Also I have yet to cross if it is posable to install multiple games to one Flash card and run it from a menu.

    A. That's really the whole purpose of having a flashcart.

    Q. The Kit I bought is coming with a 2G Micro-SD Card. I'm coming from the Wii seen with USBLoader on the brain.

    A. Flashcarts use microSD

    Q. Finally This Pokesav program I have been looking at always references Diamond and Pearl. Will it work equally for Platinum?

    A. No. There is a separate Pokesav for Platinum.

OK I get the SD card is like the USB drive. Is there a homebrew app I should be searching for?
Other then that You got all the points I was looking for but the first.
What do I need to do to prepare the DS for homebrew after receiving my flashcart?

IMHO, using Wii terminology and applying it to a flashcart will make it more confusing if you use these forums. The function is similar but the terminology is different.

Each flashcart has it's own proprietary kernel and operating system software.

On top of the operating software is a user interface (shell).

Most flashcarts use Moonshell or a variant that has been tailored for that flashcart. Moonshell also provides additional features such as the ability to play audio (.mp3) files or video (.dpg) files.

Moonshell is typically all that's required to run NDS ROMs, though special functions may require additional software, such as running .gba ROMs on a slot-2 card.

The kernel and shell are available through the flashcart manufacturer's website. (In your case, www.EZFlash.cn)

Each flashcard may have a different kernel file structure, but they typically share the same method for installation.

1)Format the microSD card to FAT or FAT32 in a PC.

2)Follow the directions at the manufacturer's website to put the files into the root directory of the microSD card.

3)Place the NDS ROM files in the root directory of the flashcart

4)Kernel upgrades are manufacturer specific and the directions are at the manufacturer's website.

5)Homebrew software has it's own installation software and veries from package to package.

Those are the basics. There are other sites that act as repositories for flashcart firmware and shell programs. I try to get mine from the manufacturer's website whenever possible.

The EZ FLash V is a decent choice. I own one but don't use it anymore except as a backup. Note that you are limited to a 2GB microSD and although most WiFi functions are supported, you will not be able to talk to a Wii with the EZ Flash V.

Thank you and I will keep my Wii chatter in the Wii Forums Room and keep it all NDS Here.

I have been to the EZFlash sight and viewed their firmware pages. I'm a bit surprised there is no real system modifier that need to be installed to use a flashcart. And that the use of the card is all in the software installed onto it i.e. game authentication.

My plan as of now is to play backups and possibly run a few cheats to enhance game play. I will need to read up on their page for the details but seem that I will be ok by what I read up to now.

I must not know about all the benefits of the NDS and Wii. What am I missing? The NDS is primarily my 8 year olds. I rarely play it. What brings me here is he wished to get an Action-Replay but I thought if we spent the $$$ a flashcart would do the same and more. So again Wii? What am I missing out on?

There are at least 3 Wii games and one Wii channel that can talk to a corresponding NDS game.

    1) Pokemon Battle Revolution can talk to Pokemon D/P/Pl and you can upload/download Pokemon

2)My Pokemon Channel can upload/download Pokemon from Pokemon D/P/Pl

3)Animal Crossings (I forget which one) can talk to it's NDS counterpart

4)Galaxy Wars can talk to it's NDS counterpart

There are one or two more, I believe. Maybe someone can add to my list.

You've already bought an EZ FLash V, but IMHO, the cheat system for the CycloDS beats all for simplicity. The CycloDS is the most expensive flashcart around, but it does EVERYTHING (and quite well, IMHO). It is one of the 3 flashcarts that can talk to a Wii. The other 2 are the G6 Real and the M3 Real.
