this is a bit of a strange one here but someone might be able to help me.since last week i had thought my remote control for my sta*vi*w one had given up on me so i ordered a new one from ebay. i received this in the post last Friday. This remote also didn’t work so I was thinking it might be faulty so would have to be returned but this evening my girlfriend arrived home with another remote and this one is also not working. I am thinking now it’s a problem with the sta*vi*w itself . I switched off the box at the back and turned it back on again to see if that would sort it but it didn’t help although the remote we got today did turn on the stand-by and moved up one channel but after that it wouldn’t change channel or anything else. The remote I had got from eBay worked itself for a few minutes the other morning but after that it stopped too. Any help would be great please. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass having to get up every time to change the channels.

if you have a camera phone, tale a look at the led light on the top of the remote through it to see if there is power still coming from the remotes.if yes, then the box is no longer picking up or is playing up..im afraid the remote sensor on it is going..best bet is to fork out for a starview 2 or similar,if desperate or a cheaper fix could be a new or reconditiones mother board, approx £20...if in ireland, then i would leave it and wait, since purchasing a new box may not be worth it under the preesent circumstances.

thanks for the reply scandalou. yeah i had a look through the phone and do have power through the remotes so it must be down to the box itself. thats a bit of a double blow for me today so as i'm on N*l ireland.
