    Hi All

I've had the Starview 2 "the Box" for some time now and generally I've been really happy with it. One thing has always bugged me and hopefully you can advise on a fix. When you turn on the box. most of the channels have the black vertical bars down each side of the screen as though it is set on 4:3 aspect ration (even though I have it set as 16:9 on the box config). I have always used the blue button on the Starview controller to switch to 'Full Screen' to get round this...and although it removes the black bars it also enlarges the picture too much so that some of the picture is missing at the bottom - this means things like subtitles, sports scores etc get chopped off.

Any ideas if this is fixable?

    Thanks

I presume you have a Square TV ? have you tried adjusting the settings on the TV itself

Ok tried it on mine, it was on 4.3 on the box and i could change to either letterbox or full screen, changed it to 16.9 on the box and now have a bigger letterbox and a bigger full screen Ie, the full picture is to big , so try changing yours to 4.3 again on the box and leave it on16.9 on the TV

press menu, user, change from RGB to CVBS, change from 4.3 to 16.9, then change from PAL to NTSC, then flick back to CVBS and change it to RGB, same with NTSC to PAL, this modulates the box, now go a channel to see if this fixs it, but as soon as you touch the blue button, it resets it

OK so tried that. seems OK on a lot of channels but when I go onto, for example, MTV it has the black bands down the side. I was hoping that the 16:9 setting would force everything to fill the screen(just a personal choice). I can of course get MTV to fill the screen by pressing the blue button but this then knocks out the rest...catch 22.

    Thanks for the help

Dont forget, that a lot of stations dont broadcast their programs in their correct aspects, for example a lot of the cartoon channels, the aspect is 4.3, so you will have to full screen it, but the ones that do it correctly, the pic is stretched.

To be honest, the Kryptview copes with this no problem,
