Hi peeps. I already have a working Starview 2 The Box and have had so for the last couple of years which has the up-to-date firmware on it etc . I have now been given another one which I gonna use elsewhere in the house. The person who gave me it has had it up there loft since they got it and never bothered to use it so I felt obliged to take it off their hands for a bottle of Vodka.lol Anyway, I am after some assistance with how to go about getting the latest updates on from the current version. The system info screen is showing the following: API ver: 2.60e Boot ver: 7.0 6, April 2007. Is there a step by step update process I need to go through or will the latest update .bin file go straight on? Thanks in advance.
Right, i think i`ve sussed out that i need to first update from 2.60e to version 4.51. I have downloaded the 4.51 bin file from eamos library and also GTRom loader V4.00. Is this all the files i need.?
You need the 4.03 GTRom loader. 4.57 firmware for Ireland 4.55 for uk You`ll find them in eamos under my sig in The B0x folder.
Thanks for that. I thought it rang a bell that I went from 2.60e to 4.51 on a previous box. No probs though, I will gibe 4.55 a bash tomorrow then as off to work now and let you know how I get on. Cheers again
Just tried downloading 4.55 onto The Box but got the old flash update fail error. I have went through the bad flash guides, I have checked the comms port setup in device manager. I`ve tried other ports. I`ve tried again. I`ve rebooted laptop and tried all sorts of orders of power ons/offs etc. I can only think that my cheap USB/Serial adapter is now not working.
iv had the same problem with my laptop it would not reconise the adaptor i was using vista so i took vista of put xp on and iv had no problems flasing 10 boxs since the problem was with the vista system so iv now got 2 laptops one with vista the other with xp and the one with the vista on still wont reconise the addaptors
Yeah I`ve heard about that issue before, but thing is I flashed my other box at Xmas time there with the latest update using the same laptop and Vista. Only difference is I am using a longer USB/Serial adapter cable than before so can only think that its that. I`ve checked that ist still got the Prolific drivers installed which it has. Time for another cable to try me thinks.
