    Hi Guys,

First of all i'd like to say thanks to all the people who have helped me so far. Special thanks to Des B & Sc0user, you have to put up with so much dumb stuff sometimes it's unreal so fairplay.

I have SV3 & SV2 and have always sorted out the mishaps from reading all the posts so I never had to post here before.

This maybe another dumb question which relates to SV2 The Box. Your advice has been don't fix it if it's not broken so I've followed that and still haven't updated the firmware on my SV2 since purchasing.

Basically I can get all the channels due to your help. However one minor problem is the time on the display changes irregularly. Goes up one minute, back a minute, then up and quite often it jumps by an hour or more and less often by a good few hours. I can live with it but it's a pain in the hole to wake up in the middle of the night, look at it "04:46" go back asleep then end up being late for work cos it was completely wrong by a few hours.

Just wondering if later firmware fixes this or is it just the same?

Info: It always autorolls until today, left for 30 mins on strong siganl channel to see it remain at 0% Updating so I had to get the codes from somewhere else.

    I'm running
    API ver: 4.50e_E
    Boot ver: 7.0
    5 July 2007
    (non)service provider is NoTellyLive Dublin.

Another slight problem which I didn't fix myself is that TV5 is in the place of BBC Radio 1, I've deleted channels and rescanned etc. Didn't do factory reset as I'm unsure if it would have any worse repercussions.

PS: NoTellyLive if you're reading this I would happily pay for your service if you provided it but for the past 12 years all I have is fuzzy TV (partly Cablelinks fault). With the box I have a clear picture so I'm trying to catch up on value for money - sign me up for Sky Sports & Setanta come 2020. I'm in the same boat as thoe poor souls on Prime Time last night, sure you've all heard about it by now...

EDIT: As title says I'm only a newbie and can't figure out how to edit my post, only the title.

Just want to add that my analogue signal is very poor which means I have a limited EPG - I can only see what's on for the next hour or so after leaving it to 'load' and this poor signal may effect the time.
I have changed the user settings to manual time and it just seems to change back to auto time after a while so if you know if new firmware would resolve this either it would probably solve the problem.

If I need to update firmware is Maplin a good price on the cable or are there cheaper places?

    Thanks.

The 4.50 is the most stable for Ireland, and as regards the AU it should be working for you, I know that there was a roll today and that various posters have had to resort to finding an encrypted channel to get the AU to kick, Discovery turbo, Sky Sports 1, turning the box of for a minute, and then turning off the key Emu and pressing the default key and then turning the Emu back on, then finding an encrypted channel with a strong signal, but it is still AUpdating, it's been a day of trial and error, the firmware has not broken down.

as Malci says its trial and error s*y indie movies worked for me, noely will tell you to go to s*y two, so its a matter of finding what gives your box that kick and gets it going.

As said there is no need at the moment to update your firmware, as regards the time problem kust make sure that you do have it set to GMT+00, and the EPG has never ever been one of thStarviews strong points. And with regards to the updating lead/s whenever you may need them, then Maplins do sell them but are the most expensive, you will get them on fleabay much cheaper. Such as this you can have Adaptor (if needed) and NULL MODEM lead for the price of much less than the lead alone would cost you at Maplins, >>>>>>>>>>>>

as regards the time issue as malci said they have never been that reliable, maybe buy an alarm clock LOL, I have sv 1 and 3 and at times i come down and the time is wrong once i switch on it corrects itself but you could not depend onit.:)

    Cheers lads.
Tried to AU on a good few channels and Sky Indie was only one bar from full signal so gave that half an hour to no avail & also tried Sky Sports Premier, none of them budged of 0%.

Hopefully it's not a taste of things to come.

Malci - I've had little trouble with 4.50 to date, most of the problems I put down to poor signal. When we had key changes left, right and centre in the summer it coped fine once the signal was good until today so it got me thinking.

I seen that it AU'd for a good few people so I wasn't sure if this was down to having better firmware or a better signal.

    Hi

Ive a starview 2 (the box) and lost most of the channels yesterday. I tried reinstalling the channels because that usually works but this time it found 0 channels. I then read this post and tried your advice. I turned it off, then back on, turned off emu, reset default key, turned on emu and then turned to channels you mentioned and many others too. Its still stuck on "data is being updating [0%]". Its firmware 4.52. Any idea what else I could try?

    Thanks in advance.

Try noely's answer for the irish problem

    Menu > 1570
Turn emu off & exit to channels, (wait till you see scrambled or bad channel)
    Menu > 1570
Go to Set default key > press ok
    Turn emu ON
Exit to s*y Two & it should update
    .
