    Hi everyone, newbie here

Just got a Freeview 2 today and also cho..s Ireland MMDS installed. Using a USB to serial to RS232 (that was included) to upload GTRom v4.0 and thebox_ireland bin file but failing at around 75%.

I ran the Installation firstly but all failed 13/13 on Cho..s. Also read on a thread that Cho..s MMDS is DVB-T but when scans on TV comes up as DVB-C, not sure if this is sorted by uploading firmware.

Help greatly appreciated after 5 hours of this.

    James

Sorry for the bad news but the Starview 2 called "The Box" will not work on C***** MMDS, as you stated MMDS utilises DVB-T and the box has a DVB-C tuner.

You can ask your supplier to change it as there is a new Starview box coming very soon for the C***** MMDS network, this one has a DVB-T tuner.

Cheers for the good news, wish I had posted 5 hours ago. Do you know when this DVB-T version will be available, just cancelled Sky

At least it was news :) It is supposed to be out in a week, but like all good things it might take longer.

Mind me asking where you bought "The Box" from and I will tell you if you will have any problems exchanging it.

They have sold clone Starview 1s in the past, but seem to be back to buying original boxes again. Your Starview 2 is not a clone but as they have been seen to be dodgy in the past, (might have redeemed themselves though), I would get straight onto them in the morning.

Another thing I hope you told them you were using it for C***** MMDS, as it is not a faulty box you have, it will not work on the MMDS system as stated. If they sold you the box with this knowledge you have no problem exchanging it, if not I hope they either have a cooling off period or just good manners to exchange it for you either way.
