i live in uk and have starview 2 api ver 4.54e_E boot ver 7.0 my epg is only working on some channels i have got up to date software be gentle iam new
The EPG isn't the best on these boxes, try putting version 4.51 on it instead,it might make it a bit better for you as 4.54 is known to give problems as it is fairly new out.
I had the same firmware on my box and found the EPG could take a long time to updatem, but finally gave me 7 days. More annoyingly, I found that it was stuck in some weird display mode where 4:3 programs would fill the screen, and 16:9 ones were equally stretched so they lost all the stuff at the edges no matter what my screen type was set to in the User Settings. I ended up reverting back to 4.51_E and either manually change the settings to stretch a 4:3 to fill the scree, or just leave it. annoyingly I forgot how rubbish the EPG was in this version though - now only does Now & Next and constantly requires a full powere off and on again via the switch at the back to update
You shouldn't have to keep turning it on and off the get it to update, try re-flashing it again with 4.51.
sorry but how do i do that really am new scarred to touch it case i do something wrong and lose all the channels
It's always been that way mate, it never updates itself unless I move around the empty EPG a bit - sometimes that makes it update (albeit very slowly) - or power it off and on again
Ok try not to panic when you first read below (LOL) it's easy enough once you follow the instructions. To do this you will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F. Null modem info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found here http://eko.4shared.com/ You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link. Now select the firmware i.e version 4.51 which can be found in the 'firmware' folder of the above link. *Also you should download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.*
That's a strange one, what I find I have to do is press the EPG button a few times then say on the 3rd time I press it it comes up with 99% of the listings but it's very rarely that I'd have to do that as the listings come up on the first go,try reflashing it see does it make any difference.
I flashed it back from 4.54 to 4.51 yesterday (the non displaying of widescreen correctly was really bugging me), but will try flashing it again when I get home. Cheers
