Hi everyone, I'm new to this site but have been assured that this is the best place in the world to get help for Starview boxes. I live in Galway, Ireland and use the NTL network. I just bought a Starview 3 Box for my parents. I already own a Starview 2 Box myself and it works perfectly. My problem is when i started to install the Starview 3 Box i been unable to access the CAS menu to switch the EMU on in order to get it working. I performed the scan ok and it found 187 channels but when i try to access the CAS menu it won't let me in. Having read a few of the threads on this site over the last couple of days i am a bit confused on what to do. Having read a few different things on the threads i have tried the following.... MENU, PARENTAL CONTROL, INFO & 2004 won't work as it does on my Starview 2 Box. MENU, PARENTAL CONTROL, 0000, 2004, 2004, INFO & "2004 doesn' work. MENU & 1570 doesn't work either. On the PARENTAL CONTROL Menu there is no Line for SECOND PIN so can't try 1656. I have checked in the SYSTEM INFORMATION Screen and have the following information.. API Version 6.00e BOOT Version 8.0 Date: 18 Jan 2008 I have seen many great replies to problems from the likes of Malci & topcat96 etc. who haved helped others in downloading Firmware & Software, but i am confused as to what i need to download, if anything at all. Can anyone provide me with a little help please, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
You need to flash the Super with latest firmware first, you will find all you need in Eamos FTA Library. I put the latest firmware for The SV3 in there yesterday.
Hi sc0user, thanks for replying so quickly. Sorry to sound so stupid but how exactly do i go about Flashing the box. They did supply me with a cable that will go form the back of the box into my computer and have seem info regarding this posted by topcat96 on this site, is that what i need to do... "You require the following files from http://eko.4shared.com ... CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip (in the starview/firmware folder) GTRom_v400.rar (in the starview/software folder) Extract the above files using WinRAR (also found on eko.4shared.com as well) and continue below ... UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL 1. Plug Starview in at the mains; 2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for this on the Starview you cant go wrong); 3. Open up GTRom loader. 4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the Auto update BIN File file that you have downloaded 5. Now click download button and you will see the file being downloaded. 6. Once complete a message will appear saying something like "download successful". 7. Plug box in and press Menu on remote, select Installation, choose your cable provider, then move down to automatic scan and press OK. 8. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen. 9. Now press menu. Press INFO then type in the number 1570. A new menu will appear. Move down to Key Emu and change option to ON. Press OK, then exit back to TV Screen. 10. Go to scrambled channel (Sky Sports is recommended) and wait on keys updating."
No that firmware is for SV1s, basically the same approach, but the firmware for the Super Box differs as it is a loader and firmware in one. From Eamos FTA Library latest The Box Super Firmware is http://www.4shared.com/file/46816277/90999abe/GTRom_Super_705e.html?dirPwdVerified=dadd1b7b This is version 7.05 which has only been released.
Thanks again sc0user. I will give it a try. Do you mind if i get back to you later if i have any problems with it?
You shouldnt have as you look like an avid reader of the forum But fire ahead if you do, as its the weekend I am only in and out for a while.
Just took the cable they gave me and put it in the bavk of the box but i doesn't match the connection in the back of my laptop. Damn! Is it a RS232 cable that i need?
