hello i wonder if someone can help me? i have just purchased the above and have tried to flash gtrom 8.00 with no success. so i then tried version 7.05 and got most of the channels no setanta etc been reading forums and tried beta 7.9 and this also did not work i brought a few boxs for fammily and with the old 7.05 they got all the channels and yet i dont? we are all on ntl and only live a few miles apart ias wondering if there was a way of checking signal or somthing? thanks for any help please ploppy2
There is no reason that you can't get it if you are in the same region which you seem to be then the best thing that you can do is get the frequency off the families Starview, just turn to the channel in question and press the button marked sl above the EXIT button and note the frequency and then do a Manual Scan on your own box.
thanks for replying done that already and i get no signal by the way i seem to be able to flash the box but when i do channel scan it finds nothing when i use 8.00 or beta 7.9 thanks ploppy2
Sorry, but am I missing something here, I thought you said that you got the channels with 7.05 but no Setanta? have you got a subbed box in the house with a cable feed or not? have you got cable broadband?
yes get most channels with 7.05 but not settanta and some others. i have flashe boxs for my family with 7.05 and they work ok getting settanta and others at thier houses not at mine. when i got the boxs it said to download version 8.00e so i did and got nothing when auto scan was done. so tried manual and also got nothing so tried beta 7.9 and got nothing so went for 7.05 and at my house got most channels eg sky sports 1 2 movies etc but when same box used at familys house they get setatnta and other channels i dont get sorry if this is long winded but im stuck thanks ploppy2
No not long winded that doesn't matter, I thought you meant that originally, it is a bit strange, but when I say do a Manual Scan I meant do it individually on Setanta, by putting the frequency into Down Frequency and pressing OK (Not Going To Manual Scan)it will just scan on that frequency and bring in whatever. Also if you are so close together, have you tried an installation at the other house that you can get all the channels on and then brought it back home, if you are in the same area and have same provider then you should be able to do that. Are you doing a factory reset before any re-scanning because you do need to.
tried the box from mums and when setanta comes on screen (menu graphics) the program dosent just blank and stays blank when graphics go off regards ploppy2
Just try a manual scan on Setanta frequency, do this and see what happens, from the Setanta channel press Menu, OK on Installation, go down to manual Scan OK and the frequency will appear in Down Frequency just press OK and see if it brings it in, (do not enable or anything else) Just press OK on Down Frequency.
