Hi, Like quite a few users I have been unable to update my firmware on my Starview 3. (Flash failed message over and over - And it isn't a com port or cable issue because I have tried all possible combinations via USB and Serial ports). I then tried to use the Keymaster 1.2 program to give me a working box, even if it meant daily changing keys. This is not working either. After changing the keys to the latest that Keymaster gives me, I just get channel code updating messages on all non-FTA channels. The updates sometimes go as high as 130% but the channels are never decoded. It's quite confusing because I moved from Bristol where Telewest became Virgin. When I got to Leeds Virgin said that I was now in ex-NTL land and I had to change my email and Virgin+ box to NTL. S I have tried both the Telewest and NTL keys. emu is definately on. When I scan channels with the Starview it finds no channels under NTL but 300+ channels under Telewest. Can somebody please offer me any advice that could get me a working box by either method?
Connect the b0x to the pc via the null modem etc. Open the GTRom on your desktop, turn the b0x off at the back. Click download in the GTRom & wait about 3 secs, then turn the b0x on at the back. This may take up to 20 attempts, so you`ll have to be patient. Best of luck. EDIT - If you are using Vista, you would be better off using a pc with XP as there has been alot of problems trying to flash boxes with vista.
the one thing that i was stuck on which maybe ur having trouble with, download winrar and extract the bin file onto ur desktop, have u tryed that??
My understanding was that the Bin file on the new 8.02e loader wasn't available as a seperate file. A lot of users on other forums were blaming the new loader and saying that they would rather try the new Bin with the older loader, but that it wasn't possible. If it is where can I find it?
The 8[1]02e is a unified firmware/loader file. You dont need anything else, just download it onto your desktop. Connect the b0x to the pc etc & continue from there.
